How does LocaFollow sort the results?
LocaFollow is powered by Google. Then the results are showed in the same order that Google shows it. Those Twitter pages that are better SEO optimized will appear on the top.
How can I improve my position in the LocaFollow’s results?
Remember that LocaFollow is powered by Google. If you want to appear at better positions you need to SEO optimize you Twitter’s profile. Here you have a couple of basic tips to SEO optimize your profile:
- Be sure to include your desired keywords in the bio and location fields of your Twitter profile.
- Try to get your Twitter profile linked back from blogs, foros, directories, etc.
Why don’t I appear at the LocaFollow results for keywords that are included at my Twitter profile?
Remember that LocaFollow is powered by Google. LocaFollow don’t search directly on your Twitter bio field, it searches in the Google index, and Google only indexs those keywords that are more relevant in your profile. Try other keyword from your bio and maybe there is one better indexed.
Why do I only see 64 Twitter users in the results? I am sure that there are more Twitter users for my search
Unfortunately the Google Search API only provides us up to 64 results for each search. But with your help we can make LocaFollow a popular tool and then make Google to give us more results. So if you want to collaborate share it.
Why do I sometimes see a message like this in the search results: “Twitter API seems busy or maybe you reached your API rate limit”?
If your connection is slow at some moment or if Twitter is over capacity (it does usually) then maybe the timeout expires. If that is your case, you can try it again and maybe that will fix the issue.
Other possible cause is the Twitter API Limit, specifically 150 requests in an hour for each IP. Maybe you reached that limit and then you have to wait about an hour and try again. For you to know, LocaFollow makes one API request for each Twitter profiles in the results, then for each page that you visualizes it makes 8 API calls.
Nevertheless if LocaFollow cannot get the user details from Twitter then it will show the data from the Google index and even you can follow them.
I have reached the Twitter API limit, how long do I have to wait?

If I reach my Twitter API limit, is it going to affect to the rest of Twitter applications?
No, it won’t affect those applications where you need to authenticate with Twitter. For example it won’t affect applications like TweetDeck or Hootsuite.com. And it never will affect you to tweet from the Twitter web.
I tried to log in and I get this error, every time: “Something was wrong with the Twitter API, please login again”

No, never. LocaFollow uses the authentication protocol OAuth. This protocol will take you to a twitter webpage where you authorize us to use your Twitter account without knowing your password.
Do LocaFollow send tweets without my permission?
No, never. LocaFollow only sends tweets using your account if you select the option to automatically “say hello” to the users that you follow.
What for is the text field that has this text: “Following {username} recommended by @locafollow”?
If you select that option then LocaFollow will automatically send a tweet using your account to “say hello” to the users that you follow from LocaFollow. The parameter {username} will be automatically replaced by username of the user that you follow. Use this option with moderation, if you follow to many users in a short period then it can disturb your followers. Nevertheless it is a good way to get the attention from the just followed user.
Why does not LocaFollow suggest my location by default? I got suggestion other times that I used it.
LocaFollow tries to geo-localize your IP. We use a method very accurate but not always can determine your exact position.
